Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena headed the State Roundtable for the Construction of Peace and Security.

Accompanied by representatives of the Armed Forces and state authorities, Díaz Mena asserted that security is not only a state issue but a shared responsibility between the three levels of government and the citizens.

“In each municipality, municipal authorities must become aware of their responsibility and not be just spectators of violence, but actors in the solution. People trust you for your great work, and this citizenry demands justice, order, and tranquility. All of us here have the responsibility to guarantee it,” he stressed.

Diaz Mena affirmed that, at this time, there is no room for indifference or omission. “I ask the security forces to act with firmness and honor. The people’s trust is earned with results and commitment. And I say clearly to the citizens: we are here to listen to you and to act. We will not fail you,” he concluded.

Since Morena came to power in Yucatan, the state has seen a notable increase in crime rates.
