The arrest occurred near the Bali subdivision, next to the area known as ‘Las Torres’.

The Municipal Police of Solidaridad arrested 10 people, five men, and five women, accused of being alleged “squatters” (invaders of properties) near the Bali subdivision in Playa del Carmen.

The intervention was carried out after citizen reports alerting the authorities about a group entering the property with machetes to cut down the vegetation in the area.

The incident occurred near the Bali subdivision, right next to another area of invasion known as ‘Las Torres’. Residents of the aforementioned subdivision reported that the group had entered illegally and was threatening a man who told them that the land was private property.

Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and found the group on a dirt road. When confronted, the alleged invaders adopted an aggressive attitude towards both the civilians and the police. During their arrest, various objects were seized from them, including three machetes, a knife, a hammer, and a wooden club.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to carry out the corresponding legal proceedings.
