The taxi drivers union also accuses the ‘pochimóviles’ of unfair competition.

Faced with the unfair competition represented by the service called “pochimóvil” and the increase in transport piracy, organizations of the Taxi Drivers Union (SUTV) are promoting a march on Tuesday, February 11 to demand support from the local authorities.

Juan Alba, general secretary of the Single Union of Steering Wheel Workers (SUTV), stated that the passivity of the authorities has allowed the problem to increase until it becomes unsustainable.

Pirate Taxis

Juan Alba explained that years ago, with the support of the taxi drivers, the authorities seized a unit that irregularly provided the transport service through the InDrive platform.

He meant that since that occasion, the authorities have not carried out another operation to stop these illegal activities, which affect their income.

He said that piracy in the transportation service has reduced their income by up to 40 percent, so they urge the authorities to take action on the matter.

Permits

He also explained that another of the problems they face is the service provided by the vehicles known as “pochimóviles”, which operate without permits nor insurance, in total impunity.

Finally, Juan Alba pointed out that previously these drivers only provided the service in certain areas or colonies, but now they do so throughout the city.
