The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) and the Animal Protection Unit (UPA) of the Mérida City Council, carried out an operation in Ciudad Caucel, achieving the rescue of four canines that were in vulnerable conditions.

The judicial search was carried out at a home located on 49th Street between 90 and 92 in the Almendros subdivision, in response to a citizen complaint filed with the FGE that alerted about alleged acts of abuse against animals.

According to witnesses, the couple who owned the dogs abandoned them after moving at least 15 days ago. After the authorities intervened and based on established protocols, the four dogs were secured and handed over to the UPA for care and protection.

It is a male mixed-raced French Poodle dog, approximately 10 years old, another mixed-raced Schnauzer, a four-year-old female, a one-year-old black and brown mixed breed dog, and a two-year-old male black mixed breed dog.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern about the state of the animals. For this reason, immediate action was taken by the competent authorities. The FGE continues with the corresponding procedures to clarify the situation and determine the legal measures to follow.
