On the morning of this Thursday, January 13, a bee attack occurred in Mérida that left several people injured, including two members of the SSP Yucatán.
The event that occurred on 39th Street at 72nd and 74th in the center of Mérida was widely spread on social networks, so the neighbors asked for help from the emergency numbers.
For this reason, agents from the Yucatan Public Security Secretariat (SSP) arrived at the scene, implementing an operation to protect the population.
For its part, the agency, after cordoning off the area, reported on its official social media accounts that, as a preventive measure, the affected streets will remain closed until further notice.
In a statement, the SSP Yucatán confirmed the bee attack in Mérida, in front of the Infonavit facilities, where several people passing through the place were victims of multiple bee stings.
Citizens reported that a swarm of bees attacked multiple people in the face and hands; In addition, two SSP agents who came to the rescue were also injured.
One of the victims was identified as Víctor, who suffered at least five stings. The state agency announced that all affected people were evaluated by paramedics at the scene.
The agents, after being assessed, requested a fire brigade unit to combat the insects; However, they indicated that they would carry out the work at night, so the street was closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, to avoid more injuries. Neighbors indicate that the strong winds that the storm brought with it this Thursday, hit a honeycomb that was located on 39th Street, between 72nd and 74th, which spread them left and right.
