Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred while the tourist was locked in a cell.

During the early hours of this Tuesday, March 4th, alarms went off in the Hotel Zone of Cancun after it was reported that an alleged foreign tourist died in the facilities of the Tourist Police.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred while the visitor was locked in a cell, and so far, the reason for his arrest and the exact place where he was arrested are unknown.

At approximately 02:00 in the morning, on March 4, official sources indicated that the victim had suffered a cardiac arrest inside the police base located at kilometer 14.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard. However, contradictory versions indicate the body had signs of violence, which has raised suspicions and requires an exhaustive investigation by the Ministerial Police.

During the arrest, it was reported that the officers handcuffed the foreign visitor, which adds complexity to the facts and reinforces the need to clarify every detail of the event.

Personnel from the Forensic Services of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) went to the scene of the events to remove the body and transfer it to the morgue, where the corresponding autopsy will be performed. This procedure will allow authorities to determine with precision the cause of death and provide clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest and subsequent death of the foreign tourist.

It is expected that in the next few hours, the corresponding authorities will issue an official statement in which the investigative elements will be presented and the real reasons that led to this unfortunate situation will be explained.
