He said that the implementation of the Economic Recovery Program and Productive Development for Tabasco and Campeche, announced by President Enrique Peña Nieto Wednesday May 4, will provide a strong boost to fishing and agricultural production in both states, which have been hard hit economically by low oil prices.
Thus, he said, a new phase opens in fisheries for the benefit of the people of Campeche, Tabasco and also a part of Tamaulipas.
He explained that the government projects growth in shrimp fishing by 8% in value nationwide, a figure that currently stands between 14 and 15 billion pesos.
In Campeche and Tabasco, said the official, tilapia fish farms will be installed, and the extension of crops like coconut palm, rice, and tropical fruits will be promoted for the benefit of small farmers.

According to the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), Campeche farmers are currently planting 261,000 hectares with various crops, with a value of production of more than two billion pesos.
In Tabasco, the planted area is approximately 107,478 hectares, with a production value of 845.3 million pesos.
