PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Q.Roo — Playa del Carmen now has the first state-of-the-art aquarium on this side of the country.
L’Aquarium Playa del Carmen by Blau Life is being hailed as one of the most important in the country. With more than 200 marine species in 45 exhibitions, the aquarium will offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the marine world and conservation of the environment.
Alejandro Icaza Nasta, Director of Blau Life, says that “L’Aquarium Playa del Carmen will open its doors in order to join the successful recreation of the Riviera Maya and promote the care and conservation of endangered ecosystems creating future protectors of the marine world from unique experiences and unforgettable in children and adults.”
Located on the popular Fifth Avenue shopping street, L’Aquarium offers an innovative concept of education and entertainment through which visitors can admire world-class marine scenarios and interact with wonders of the underwater world.
State-of-the-art technology includes pumping systems for life support, filtering seven million liters of water per day to provide the best quality water to replicate the same sea conditions to ensure the health of on-site marine species.
Nasta also added that in addition to complementing the local entertainment venue, the exhibit will help increase the amount of tourists to the area, offering new sources of employment and raising the economic impact of visitors.
L’Aquarium is the third largest aquarium in Mexico. The project was an investment of nearly 300 million pesos. L’Aquarium is located on Fifth Avenue and 14 Street.
