The outstanding Mexican artist Marco Zamudio will present an exhibition of his recent work at SoHo Galleries in Merida, starting Nov. 19.
Marco Zamudio was born in Mexico on May 18, 1973. He graduated in Visual Arts from San Carlos National School of Plastic Arts, in 1995.
Characterized by his zeal to rescue realistic painting, Marco Zamudio won first prize in the Sacred Painting contest: “The Gospel according to St. Luke”, organized by the Manuel Toussaint Institute, Ecumenical Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Artistic Heritage.
He has collaborated in the setting and museography of the exhibition ‘Visions of the United States: Urban Realism’ of MOMA (New York Museum of Modern Art); and in ‘Self-portrait in Mexico 90’s’, in Mexico City’s Museum of Modern Art.
Zamudio also participated in the design of the catalogs of the above mentioned exhibitions.
In 1995 he collaborated in the creation of the Mural ‘El Águila and the flights’ for Banca Serfín collection by the artist Arturo Rivera.
In October 2010, MARCO ZAMUDIO made the mural THE PASSENGER, showcased at the Insurgentes subway station of the Metro collective transport system in Mexico City.
In September 2012, his second mural EL ANDEN DE OUROBOROS was inaugurated at the Tlatelolco subway station of the Metro collective transport system in Mexico City.
