The next talk in Merida English Library’s Saturday Lecture Series will be given by Professor Shalanda Baker on “Renewable Energy and Green Development in the Yucatan.”
The free talk will be March 4th, 11:30 am in the MEL Garden.
In just one year, by 2018, nine renewable energy projects, including solar and wind developments, will be installed in the Yucatán Peninsula. The region’s rapid transition to “clean” energy will have an array of permanent positive and negative impacts on the region’s social, environmental, and economic fabric. University of Hawai’i law professor and Fulbright-García Robles Scholar, Shalanda Baker will provide insights on the topic.
