Authorities seek to repair these problems….
MERIDA — A third of the registries of electricity, drinking water and phone line in the center of Merida is deteriorated, prompting authorities to seek to improve coordination with management for the aforementioned services in order to avoid damages to citizens.
Merida’s Director of Public Works, Virgilio Crespo Méndez, said that after concluding the research works to determine the extent of the damage, they will start the refurbishment works.
The municipal official explained that work meetings have been held with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the Drinking Water and Sewerage Board (Japay) and the cable and telephone service companies to make them aware of the results of the work around the wiring, so it was determined to attend to those that are deteriorated.
He pointed out that of 1,100 registered records, 30% are in poor condition, but the utility companies promised to repair them in a term of not less than two months.
He said that these tasks are part of the permanent program of attention to the Historic Center, in which various improvements have been made.
