Ivan Nanney, a travel influencer and lifestyle designer from Boise, Idaho, will start as the company’s Cancun Experience Officer on March 1, 2018.

Cancun.com, a one-stop shop for those looking to vacation in Cancunand the surrounding areas of the Riviera Maya, today announced that Ivan Nanney has been named the company’s Cancun Experience Officer (CEO). Nanney will start as the company’s CEO on March 1, 2018, spending six months in one of the most visited and beautiful vacation destinations for travelers in North America. The joint venture between Best Day Travel Group and TravelPass Group, who together operate Cancun.com, received more than 8,000 applications from candidates in 120 countries.

“We learned so much throughout this process, and came to admire all of the applicants’ personal values, how each one represented themselves and their passion for travel. We’d like to thank all of the candidates for their time and hard work, and the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa and Grand Oasis Cancun Resort for hosting the 10 finalists,” said Chad Meyerson, general manager at Cancun.com. “When it came time to pick a winner though, Ivan Nanney really stood out to us. He has a great personality on and off the camera, and is a very authentic person and engaging story-teller. It is an honor to have him as our CEO, and Cancun.com is excited to see him build upon his strong skill set.”

Ivan Nanney is a travel influencer and lifestyle designer with a drive to encourage others to prioritize experiences over possessions. He caught the travel bug after studying abroad in Seville, Spain, followed by a backpacking trip around Europe. A native of Boise, Idaho, Nanney runs a travel blog and YouTube channel called “Ivan the Intrepid.” Prior to that, he was a host on The FIREBALL RUN® Adventure Travel Series, and led two nationwide marketing tours for the Idaho Potato Commission, where he traveled over 16,000 miles and through 36 states with a 12,000 pound potato.

“My passion in life is traveling, and the transformative powers that travel can have on an individual. Being named the CEO of Cancun.com, and being able to spend the next six months in Cancun, is truly a dream come true. It’s now my job to explore every nook and cranny of the Riviera Maya, engage with the culture, have fun, and share my adventures with the world,” said Ivan Nanney, winner of Cancun.com’s CEO search. “I can’t wait to experience Cancun on a deeper level, and uncover and share adventures that inspire travelers to visit such an incredible destination.”

In the weeks leading up to March, Cancun.com and the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be planning the most exciting ways to show off the accommodations, cuisines and adventures that Cancun has to offer. Nanney’s first task as CEO will be to stay at the Xcaret Hotel and explore Xcaret Park, a Maya civilization archaeological site by the sea where travelers can relive the history of Mexico through colorful traditions and shows, endless activities and beautiful native flora and fauna.

“The increased interest in Cancun and the number of qualified applicants surpassed even our wildest expectations. Any of the 10 finalists would have been a great fit for the CEO role,” said Lizzie Cole, director general of the Cancun CVB. “Ivan Nanney will make a great ambassador for Cancun, and we’re excited to work with him to share the wonders of our destination beyond its beautiful beaches with the rest of world.”
