Entrepreneurs from Yucatan who are interested in carrying out a technology-based project will be able to obtain up to 200 thousand pesos as initial capital to finance their project, through the Yucatan Fund for Innovation (FYI), which for this year has a stock of 10 million pesos.
The head of the Innovation Department of the Secretariat of Research, Innovation and Higher Education (SIEES), Carolina Fosado Santamaría, said in an interview that it is an initiative promoted by the State Government, which seeks to stimulate human talent in the region.
She pointed out that in addition to supporting the creation of new technological products, the FYI also intends to build a foundation from an innovation perspective that offers competitive advantages both for the region and for the Yucatecans and the firms that settle in our territory.
She highlighted that continuing with the efforts of the state administration to promote the culture of entrepreneurship, after implementing the initiative, the best evaluated projects will be selected to participate in the Fund for Entrepreneurs of Yucatan (Fondey), and will be considered for other national or international financing of greater scope and with impact on the productive sector.
Fosado Santamaría also stated that the projects could range on various topics from innovation, such as agro-industry, biotechnology, information technology, tourism, health and construction, which underpins these economic sectors of the state.
The official informed that at the moment there are approximately 25 ideas registered, so she invited to join this call that will remain open until the resource is exhausted. Meanwhile, she added that on February 19 proposals will be received, which will be evaluated by a technical committee every month.
With a stock of 10 million pesos, this plan is aimed at individuals residing in the Yucatan who, individually or through a group have the profile and present an idea based on technology and scientific knowledge.
