PETO.- In the coming weeks the legal procedures will be ready for the Civil Association “Pet uh“(crown of the moon in Maya) to be properly integrated and immediately the corresponding procedures will be initiated to create the first museum in the community, informed the president of the group, Arturo Rodríguez Sabido.
The historian and chronicler of the town of Peto, also said that the purpose of creating the association is to look for alternatives to make the community known through its history.
“Peto is rich in history, because it includes the arrival of the railroad, the chewing gum tree era, migration, the visit of President Lázaro Cárdenas in the 1930s, the construction of the church and other historical topics”, he said.
There are communities with which Peto shares history, such is the case of Tzucacab that at some point was part of Peto and both communities witnessed the cruelty of the Caste War.
“All that history is intended to be displayed in the museum” he added.
The association is made up of 20 petuleños, several of them went to live to other places because of different circumstances, but they still have their community in mind and want to do something for it.
Arturo Rodríguez pointed out that they expect that the constitutive act will be delivered so that they can register the group, in order to conclude with the legal aspects.
He indicated that at the end of this process they will look for alternatives to create this museum, which is one of the projects they have.
Finally, he pointed out this is only the beginning, as they intend to look for more projects that could benefit the development of the community in Peto, Yucatán.
