Caminos Sagrados (Sacred Roads) is a new initiative of the Tourism Network Community of the Maya Zone in Quintana Roo, that brings together eight experiences where Mayan communities share their cultural and natural heritage while contributing to preserve the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.

At Maya Ka’an  there are eight sacred paths that lead to the same place, “a paradise where the human being becomes aware of its history, takes pride of its culture, loves nature and uses its knowledge to live life as an adventure.”

The visitors will be able to learn about the war of castes (1847-1901) in the voice of a wise Maya grandfather +100 years old. You will witness how a boa hunts hanging bats inside a cave, you will cruise the jungle by bicycle while learning about its biodiversity, and navigate through mangroves and estuaries on a kayak to admire and photograph wildlife, among other activities.

Moisés Canté Canul, representative of the X-Yaat Cooperativa, explains that “Caminos Sagrados” (Kili’ich Bejo’ob) is a tour operating initiative, a project of nature for the development of rural Maya communities in Quintana Roo, and focused on the conservation of biodiversity in the Yucatan Peninsula.
