The building can be divided in different size rooms that can be subdivided. The walls are noise proof and the lighting system is state-of-the-art. Besides, the proximity to the most important hotels in town is a huge advantage” Ancona Salazar continued.
The official said that this center will mark a before and after in tourism, particularly in business tourism, as the businessmen of the industry say, the groups and meetings travelers are the ones that spend the most during a stay.
The CIC, assured Ancona Salazar, will bring new business opportunities, new jobs, new investments and is detonating a private investment of over one billion pesos in construction of new hotels and establishments, which in turn will generate an important number of direct and indirect jobs.
The secretary said that all this requires co-responsibility of the authorities and the private initiative. “I see a totall new repositioning of Merida and Yucatan for the work that has been done in the last five years,” Ancona Salazar said.
The secretary of Tourism Promotion stated that the CIC is not a work that will win awards for its architectural design, but it does have huge qualities as a highy functional and operational business center. It was not built to win prizes, but to do businesses for the benefit of Yucatán.
“The challenge is just beginning, the work has already been done, the private sector trusted in us and will have to continue trusting because the challenge is to have a continuity of events and an economic flow,” he said.
Ancona Salazar explained that the average number of events in the convention centers of the country is 12, but in this new center there are already 16 in presale.
“As of its inauguration we are going to launch a promotion campaign,” he said.
