During its participation in the Tianguis Turístico México 2018 in Mazatán, Sinaloa,  the City of Mérida has been offering its attractions and first quality services to thousands of national and foreign tour operators and service providers.

The Merida delegation held a meeting with Rodrigo Pérez Alonso, director of the National Air Transportation Chamber, showcasing that the Yucatecan state capital is experiencing an unprecedented growth in air connectivity, and accommodation offer, as, according to Datatur’s information Mérida currently boasts 10,000 hotel rooms.

Also it was stated that from 2014 to the end of 2017, Mérida increased its hotel offer by 205 rooms per year, on average.

As of this year, the rate of growth increased notably, since in the first two months, 422 new rooms were added.

Nevertheless, this growth is not equal to the offer of airplane seats, so far this quarter, the offer of seats only increased by 1.6%, going from 76% in average to 84% in this same period.

Pérez Alonso invited the City Council to participate in a forum with airlines on May 15 in Mexico City, where it will be possible to talk with different airlines about the advantages of increasing their flights to Mérida, programming larger aircraft equipment and more capacity, as well as diversify their routes and destinations.

The Merida City Council booth at the Tianguis Turístico de Mazatlán 2018 offers handicraft products from the state, such as guayacán chocolate beaters, tamulador and tortilleros elaborated in the same material, as well as jícaras, lecs and calabazos, textiles, hammocks and other Arts & Crafts.
