On April 21, a man was executed in a bar in Playa del Carmen, another one in Cancun and there was a detainee after firing several shots, moreover the red code was activated in Cancun after reports of shots were fired in the Kabah Walks, in the 222 region.
Meanwhile, in Playa del Carmen, authorities announced that Juan Roberto Hernández Aguilar Alias ”Don Robert”, owner of the “Banda rumba caribe” Bar, located in Papagayos Square on Avenida Juarez 45, was murdered after a person entered the bar and shot him at point blank.
According to data collected at the crime scene, the murdered person owned several bars, among them the “Abrevadero and The No le digas a Mamá”, which have been the scene of several executions so far this year.
It is the fifth consecutive weekend in which there is a shooting in a nightclub in Playa del Carmen.
On April 20, in Cancun, 4 people were shot outside a house in Fraccionamiento Prado Norte, in Region 260.
Earlier, on the afternoon of April 20, a family was attacked with gunshots in Region 102, behind the Bachilleres 2 public high school. As a consequence of this incident, a man died, and a woman and her 4 year-old boy were transferred to the General Hospital of Cancun.
And 5 days ago, five bodies were found stuffed in abandoned car outside a gym located in Supermanzana 43, two blocks away from the Andrés Quintana Roo Stadium and the facilities of the Prosecutors Office of the State (Vice Division). Local prosecutors are desperately trying to identify the bodies of five men.
The latest case comes amid a rise in violence including drug and gang related killings in the once tranquil holiday destination.
