Scientific staff will learn to market technological solutions that are developed in research centers and universities through a training program that encourages entrepreneurship.

Through the Innovation Corps methodology (I-Corps), used in the United States, Yucatecan researchers will be prepared to study, analyze and understand the needs of the market and think about the final consumer, as they continue with technological progress, in order to provide answers that fit those requirements.

Since the middle of last year, the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) issued a call to launch proposals for the integration of new Binational Innovation Nodes, so this training will be given through the Binational Innovation Node (NoBI) of the Southeast in the Technological Science Park of Yucatán.

These scientific cluster attempts to become the regional leader in tools and resources that expand the benefits of creativity and entrepreneurship in the area. In addition, they train the scientific staff to develop a program that improves the creation and exploitation of technologies in favor of society, and to link it with Nodes in the United States that have financing and supervision of the NSF.

The goal is to prepare 23 work teams, in the first year, through the NoBI Southeast, considering about 69 people in three states of the region, which will allow to accelerate effectively the commercialization of basic research and applied the strategies in the institutions of the area.

The groups will be integrated of women and men who fulfill the roles of principal investigator, business mentor, from the industry, and entrepreneurial leader undergraduate or graduate student, which will help to bring the productive activity and the academy together, in order to trigger new research projects and scientific impulse.

The aim is to determine the potential of each of the plans presented and work will be done to establish the best technology transfer strategy through the offer of services and the licensing of intellectual property or the creation of companies, in order to support the work teams to take the next step towards the market in the most appropriate way.

With these activities, NoBI Southeast will be essential to accelerate the use of basic and applied research, to fulfill the demands of a new generation of young people with a new vision of doing business, with a closer approach to the market and contributing to the generation of technologies that will solve great national challenges in different industrial sectors.
