Four years after shining in the Central American Games of Veracruz, Karem Achach Ramírez obtains a new gold for Mexico, and Yucatan.
The Yucatecan athlete in partnership with Nuria Diosdado, won the gold medal in the duet synchronized swimming competition, the second gold for Mexico in the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla.
Winners of the recent FINA World Series in Europe, the Mexicans received a score of 83.54442 and a difference of 1.80 over the local favorites Mónica Arango and Estefanía Álvarez.

The Mexican couple, who came to the Central American event after winning the gold at the World Series in Uzbekistan last June, had no problem impressing the judges with their routine, in which they featured a high degree of difficulty.
In the pool of the Eduardo Movilla aquatic complex in Barranquilla, the Mexicans arrived as wide favorites to acquire the gold, which they did without complications, with a brilliant performance.
Meanwhile, Rommel Pacheco, a native of Merida, Yucatan, had no problem to win two gold medals, one in the three-meter springboard, and the other one in the synchronized three-meter springboard modality, along with Jahir Ocampo.
Also from Yucatán, Marcela Quijano, a member of the Mérida’s Club Polideportivo, won the gold medal in the rhythmic gymnastics team competition.
