The project of the Chicxulub crater and its derivations in topics such as water, the conformation of the land, oceanography, as well as the benefits of the Special Economic Zone (EEZ) of Progreso are listed as the new points of collaboration that will strengthen the bilateral relationship between Yucatan and Japan.

Governor Rolando Zapata Bello received on Thursday Sep. 20 the ambassador of the Asian country in Mexico, Yasushi Takase, who raised the interest of his nation to strengthen ties with Yucatán in academic, research and innovation issues, all as part of the broad joint agenda maintained by both regions.

“A few days before my government ends, the entire Yucatan population has embraced a course built in the last six years, where it is clear that the fundamental value of innovation processes and the provision of services with technological value allow greater competitiveness and economic dynamics based on IT”, said the governor.

The current context of economic growth in Yucatan has aroused the interest of Komatsu, the Japanese company dedicated to the manufacture of heavy machinery for construction, whose directors were part of the delegation. Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Mexico-Japan Association were also part of the group that came to the Yucatan.
