Governor Carlos Joaquín exposed during his participation in the Forbes 2018 Forum “Road to Transition” that every day in Quintana Roo is working to boost the tourism industry in Mexico, which allows to consolidate the state’s economy as one of the top five in the country, which contributes to the reduction of inequality.
“Sustainability and the reduction of inequality are a fundamental part of tourism and originate with job creation. Much remains to be done but we are heading in the right direction; together we have founded our hopes for growth, development and improvement of the people lifestyle” said the head of the Executive.
In Table 3, which also included José Carlos Azcárraga, CEO of Grupo Posadas; Alejandro Zozaya, executive director of Apple Leisure Group; Braulio Arsuaga Losada, CEO of Grupo Presidente, and moderator Silvia Hernández, founding partner of Estrategia Pública Consultores, Governor Carlos Joaquín said that the Maya Train will connect Quintana Roo from north to south, providing mobility to tourists and Quintana Roo residents.
“It means more and better opportunities for economic development and for the diversification of tourist products in the southern part of the state; It is a tourist project but also for a service of the people of our state. It is a viable and bankable project with the joint participation of thegovernment and the private sector” he added.
“Currently we have an open possibility and a vision for the future with the promotion and creation of the Maya Train project, we are sure it is a very useful means of transportation and connectivity that will benefit the people of Quintana Roo”, the governor continued.
“When we started the administration two years ago, we considered the possibility of joining Cancún and Tulum, and then all he way down to Chetumal, bringing the southern area closer to the north of the state. Today, around 50,000 to 57,000 vehicles circulate between Cancun and Tulum on daily basis using the highway, and this figure can grow up to 75,000, in high season” Carlos Joaquín explained.
The forum brought together some 50 leaders from the world of business and the private sector.
