Voodoo Music Festival: A Magical Experience In New Orleans

Experience what magic is conjured up when you watch over 65 acts, feast on incredible cuisine, and sprinkle art into the mix. That’s what the Voodoo Music + Arts Festival is all about. Experience. It’s big on experience. The sounds, the tastes, the art, and the feelings. The festival has been around since 1999, which started out as a humble one-day Halloween music festival; and today, thousands travel from across the country and the globe to attend the multi-day music and arts event.

Voodoo Music Fest has been known to successfully bring some of the biggest names in music onstage in its history, including the Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Deadmau5, 50 Cent, and Green Day. True to form, they’re killing it again this year with Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, Martin Garrix, Modest Mouse, Marilyn Manson, and more.

In between sets, festival goers are invited to explore the mind-blowing interactive art installations made by some of the most respected names in art. The living landscape will play tricks on your mind, but that’s part of all the fun. If you’re feeling brave, check out the haunted mortuary, but it’s not for the faint of heart. Chug some craft beer at the Brew Dat Beer Hall. Get your blood pumping at the amusement park. Shop till you drop at the Market Place where you’ll find real cool swag, awesome art, and handcrafted goodies. After all, you’ll want to take home some memorabilia with you.

Mérida and New Orleans have been “sister cities” for decades

The food is a huge part of the Voodoo Music Festival, too. The organizers take pride in serving up the diverse indigenous flavors that New Orleans cuisine is known for. And we aren’t talking about your typical festival grub: there’s no fast food here. Everything will be made from scratch by some of the city’s top chefs. Some of the gastronomical experiences to look forward to can be found at Feast Under The Stars, and the Forked Up Food Court.
