When you go to a foreign land, it’s always recommended to respect the traditions and customs of the place you visit. And especially if you have decided to live permanently in this new place.

This premise was not obeyed by a woman named Cielito Luna (at least that’s her name on Facebook), who had the terrible idea of criticizing one of the most important icons of Yucatecan culture, the Pib, precisely on Hanal Pixán, and while in Yucatán.

The video of the woman who makes negative comments about the pib she bought somewhere along a highway, has generated displeasure in the Yucatecans, who named the woman #LadyPib and have viralized the woman’s comments towards this traditional food.

In the footage, the woman states that she wants to show her Facebook friends something that she just bought, and at that moment she starts to take the pib out of a bag.

“I just bought something on the road called Pib, it’s really weird, it´s like a disgusting ball of dough, that’s what it is,  a big ball of dough,” the woman says laughing.

She also comments that she thought it was raw, but the person who sold it to her, told her that it was OK, and that the cabbage was inside.

“What the hell is this? It looks like somebody took a dump”… Is this what all the Yucas are crazy about? It´s disgusting!” she continued saying in the video that has a duration of 7 minutes.

The video went viral in a matter of minutes, generating outrage among social network users, who argued that this woman was making fun and talking trash of an important Yucatecan tradition.

The hateful comments started to rain on the woman who could really feel the collective anger of a whole society that was trully outraged by her imprudent comments posted on a network that can reach thousands of people in a very short period of time.

Believe or not, more than 70 thousand comments came up on her FB timeline (most of them saying really nasty things such as, get the f… out of our state, and a whole repertoire of insultant phrases). But it was too late to apologize, the woman ended up deciding to erase her Facebook account.

Next time remember… Don´t mess with Yucatán!
