The first edition of the Yucatan’s International Trova Festival, with the cities of Mérida and Izamal as venues, will take place from Friday, December 14 until Sunday, December 16.
With more than 80 artists on stage from different nationalities, as well as Mexican and local talent this one-of-a-kind Festival features a selection of the most outstanding artists of this genre.
Jarabe de Palo: Montanuy group from Spain, is recognized worldwide for songs like Me gusta como eres, La Flaca, Depende; theband has been awarded in several Latin Grammy categories as best group, best song, best Rock group, to mention a few.
Elsa and ElMar: musical group led by Colombian composer Elsa Carvajal, became known with their first album in the year of 2015. Festivals such as El Coordenada de Guadalajara and the Festival Picnic Estéreo, in Bogotá, support this project, cataloged within a genre know as “Spiritual Pop”. This will be their second presentation this year in Yucatan.
Jorge Drexler: Uruguayan singer-songwriter, recent winner of three Latin Grammy awards as best album, best author, and best recording of the year. His style Alternative Rock, Folk and Pop, is followed by fans worldwide.
Armando Manzanero: The quintessential Yucatecan icon, world-renowned singer-songwriter, composer, and producer, winner of a Grammy Award for Artistic Career in 2014. He has written more than 500 songs, many of which have had worldwide success.
Raúl Ornelas: singer and composer from Chiapas with 8 studio albums. He has composed songs for many Mexican recording artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Thalia, Angélica Vale, Pandora, among others.
Fernando Delgadillo: Mexican singer-songwriter, who for almost 30 years has been projected as an independent artist.
Los Juglares: the Yucatecan Trova group par excellence, with a great trajectory of 20 years, in which they have become part of popular culture in the state. They represent in their songs experiences about love, dreams, illusions and joy.
The Yukalpetén Typical Orchestra: this regional music group started in the 40s, and since then it has been considered the maximum vernacular musical institution of Yucatan. They currently have more than 40 artists on stage.
Emiliano Buenfil and La Chancil Tropical: a Yucatecan group known for playing several genres such as Trova, Ska, Reggae and Surf. In much of the southeast they have been positioning themselves in the taste of young people. Today the band is considered a true representative of the modern Yucatecan culture.
Other artists that will be part of this Festival are Gilberto Gil, María San Felipe, Grecco Buratto, Angélica Balado, David Torrens, Frank Delgado, Buika, Marlango, Rosana, among others.
