Cancun, January 8 (Infoqroo) .- The demographic growth of Quintana Roo is still determined by migration, given that the number of registered births has stabilized, because in 2018 the year closed with 29,840, against 29,439 in 2017, very similar figures. This was revealed by Heydi Patricia Torres Carrillo, in charge of dispatch of the General Directorate and Central Office of the Civil Registry (Dirección General del Registro Civil: DGRC).
Also, she stated that out of the 10,600 marriages registered during 2018, 60 percent (over 6 thousand), were among foreigners. As a result, there were just over 4,000 weddings among Mexicans.
It is worth mentioning that 1,800 divorces were registered in the state of Quintana Roo during 2018, which represents 40 percent of the unions that were formalized.
On the other hand, the official explained that the Civil Registry has advanced in its objective of providing better and faster services for the people of Quintana Roo, highlighting the process of digitalization of birth certificates, which today can be obtained online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, safely and reliably at a cost of 40 pesos. In fact, the office of the Civil Registry is also working on the digitalization of marriage certificates so that these can be obtained in the same way.
“Our services are faster, waiting times are being reduced. In addition, in December we acquired, in coordination with the Federal Government, a mobile unit to bring services closer to the rural communities of the state and grant certainty and legal identity to the children of Quintana Roo who have not been registered, in order to guarantee them access to schoo and health services”, the official explained.
Heydi Patricia Torres Carrillo pointed out that the objective is to grant a birth certificate to any child who for some reason lacks the document. Finally, she indicated that the mobile unit will also allow special campaigns to regularize the civil status of people in remote communities.
