“The private interests of some groups should not hinder the investment in alternative clean energy sources in Yucatan, since these will be of vital importance for our state”, said the president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra) in Yucatan, Juan Manuel Ponce Diaz
“Everyone in Yucatan must support the fact that these 22 alternative energy projects must initiate operations and provide energy to the supply network, since that will reduce the cost of production,” the business leader said in an interview.
Ponce Díaz recalled that the generation of energy with petroleum derivatives causes an increase in tariffs, not to mention that this situation also reduces competitiveness in the state.
The president of the Canacintra affirmed that said projects and investments will allow to have an alternative plan for the generation of energy and a cheaper product.
On the other hand, the interviewee was questioned about the possibility of meeting with the Secretary of Energy, Rocío Nahle García, who canceled her visit to the state on December 15. On the subject, he added that so far there is no notification that the federal official is coming to the state in the near future.
He pointed out that it has been requested again that Nahle García comply with the appointment offered to employers in the peninsular area to give concrete answers to the demand to reduce electricity rates, which in 2018 soared up to 200 percent, causing a negative impact on Yucatecan companies and enterprises of all sectors, including, not only factories and manufacturing companies, but also hotels, restaurants, shops and other businesses.
He explained that one of the needs of the business sector is to obtain a response from the federal government to establish the feasibility of a reduction in electricity rates, in its case a reasonable adjustment, since the 14% that took place last December, does not reduce the damage already done throughout the year.
