The Secretary of Tourism Development, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, stressed that Yucatan will strengthen its tourism promotion through new strategies and alliances that will favor the arrival of thousands of tourists, after participating in the third edition of the Roxy music festival that brought together more than 20 thousand people in Guadalajara Jalisco.

In search of improving its positioning as a national and international tourist reference, an aggressive campaign will be undertaken to climb the top ten of the best Mexican destinations, since it is currently in the third place, after Baja California and Campeche, based on the Results of the survey conducted by the company Arias Consultores, directed by Luis Octavio Arias Ortiz.

Yucatán conquered the hearts of thousands of Tapatios (from Guadalajara) and tourists who attended the Roxy Music and Gastronomy Festival, which third edition concluded on February 23, with a large dose of music and exquisite dishes from the region.

This experience of brotherhood between Yucatan and Jalisco had remarkable results, such as the collaboration agreement signed by Fridman Hirsch and the director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Jalisco, Gustavo Staufert Buclo, to strengthen ties between both regions and conduct tourist and cultural exchange.

“It seems to me that we are one of the most complete destinations in a country that has everything; Mexico is the sixth most visited country in the world and these two states, which today are twinned, share traditions, culture, gastronomy, beaches and, above all, hospitable people, ” Staufert Buclo said.

The Festival was held at Terraza Vallarta, under the direction of Jacobo Márquez. More than 25 thousand people enjoyed a musical and culinary experience, with American and Mexican bands such as the Stone Temple Pilots, Caifanes, Soul Asylum, Bush, 2ManyDjs, Future Islands, 311, Goodnight Japan, Nacha Pop, ËDA, Never Never, Robert Delong, Jesse Baez and many more.

“It is worth noting that the traffic of tourists from Mérida to Guadalajara has grown by 300 percent; 2 years ago there were 3 weekly frequencies to Yucatan, today there are 14 and that has largely motivated the brotherhood between the two state capitals”, said the Secretary of Tourism, Michell Fridman.

The two cities are well connected, with 14 weekly flights and 2,460 seats available, with Volaris and Viva Aerobús.

During this work tour, a total of eight local firms represented Yucatán in the ninth edition of the Coffee and Gourmet Expo in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, considered to be the most important of its niche for the western region.

The director of Commerce of Sefoet, Teresa Espinosa Atoche, said that the Yucatecan firms have obtained results both in sales and in making business contacts for marketing, distribution and export of their goods, such as seeds, flours, coffee substitutes, habanero chile salsa, honey, vanilla extract, henequen products and oregano-based products.
