Yucatan school teacher dating minor student, could get from 10 to 20 years in jail

Antonio. C. A., the school teacher of the Cobay – Dzemul who was having sexual relations with a teenager, could get from 10 to 20 years in prison. The Penal Code of Yucatan sanctions this conduct as corruption of minors.

Antonio C., a history teacher at the Cobay of Dzemul and also Judge of Peace in Telchac Pueblo, was exhibited in social networks with images that showed his relationship with a 17 year-old student.

Screenhots of the minor’s cell phone, featuring love messages and emotional conversations with “Maestro Toni” were posted on the web.

On Thursday March 7th, it was reported that Antonio C.A. was dismissed as Justice of the Peace in Telchac Pueblo, in a statement signed by municipal president Juan Jacobo López Álvarez.

The parents of the Cobay student can actually go to the State Prosecutor’s Office, and denounce Antonio C.A for corruption of minors and statutory rape. In fact, the corruption of minors is classified as a serious crime,  without the right to bail.

In addition, there are two aggravating factors, because he is an official and a professor.

“Maestro Toni” can also be accused of statutory rape, which the law typifies as follows: “Who has intercourse with a person over twelve and under eighteen years of age, obtaining their consent by means of deception.
