Mexican Navy informed that agents officers assigned to the Ninth Naval Zone rescued four people that were adrift at sea, near the port of Progreso, Yucatán.
The operation was carried out Thursday May 2, when a person requested support at the naval command headquarters, informing that an Imemsa-type vessel named “Paula Sofía”, with four male crew members on board, had a broken engine, approximately 92 kilometers north of the port of Progreso.
Immediately the Defender-type ship was ordered to depart from the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (Ensar) in Progreso, and the fishermen’s boat was located minutes later. The Mexican Navy provided towing assistance to the port of Yucalpetén, Yucatan.
Upon arriving at the port, Naval Health personnel performed a medical check-up, finding the fishermen in good health. Later, staff of the Captaincy of Puerto Regional and Conapesca proceeded to carry out the corresponding procedures.
