AMPI and AMAR will offer housing for retirees from the US and Canada.
CANCÚN, Q. Roo.- The Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) joined the Mexican Association of Retirement Assistance (AMAR), in order to attract Quintana Roo to at least 156 thousand retirees of the Baby Boomers market in the United States and Canada.
Tayde Favila Soriano, president of the AMPI, explained that the objective is that these retired people come to live in Quintana Roo, for which they are looking for developers who want to join the project, because the homes require some specifications.
“The purpose is that they choose the destination to spend the rest of their retirement here, or use their rest home, and to boost it we will sign a collaboration agreement between both associations and the Institute for Development and Financing of the State of Quintana Roo ( Idefin), which will be at the end of the month within the framework of the real estate forum, ”he explained.
The “Baby Boomers” are those who were born between 1946 and 1965, which is in the period of the Second World War and are now retired with savings funds and looking for a different place to enjoy their country.
According to the AMPI, Mexico is the third favorite place to live; San Miguel de Allende and Mérida are the favorite places for them.
Globally, the competition is with countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, and Nicaragua, which are committed to this market segment.
AMAR data indicate that foreign retirees receive, annually, 223 million dollars, hence Quintana Roo has sought for years to attract “Baby Boomers”, so the link between AMPI and AMAR, with Headquarters in San Diego, United States, represents a breakthrough.
The agreement will be signed in the framework of the AMPI forum that will be held on August 30 at the Cancun Convention Center, where at least 300 attendees are waiting, with the topic Real Estate Transformation.
