“Dirt road cyclists” fall victims to Cancun´s violence

Two cyclists missing since three weeks ago, were found dead. 

CANCÚN, MX. (Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo) – The lifeless bodies of the two cyclists reported missing three weeks ago were found in the afternoon of Sunday, August 25, in a dirt road in Cancun´s Colonia Mexico, on the highway out to the city of Merida.

The relatives of the now deceased reported the findings to the Cancun´s Municipal Police, at around 1300 hours, after an intense search in that area, where the cyclists disappeared exactly three Sundays ago.

Elements of the Municipal Police went to the place and confirmed that two bodies in advance state of decomposition were found in a dirt breach in the colonia Mexico. The same relatives of the missing cyclists were in the area and mentioned that apparently the bodies found belong to Rosendo Ibañez López, 31, and José Vicente Pérez Vázquez, 45.

Both were last seen alive on August 4, as they rode their bicycles at the city’s exit from Cancun to Merida using a gravel road, leading to the town of Francisco May.
