Mexico falls in the World Bank’s “Doing Business” international ranking

MEXICO CITY (Agencies) – Mexico fell six places in the “Doing Business” ranking, issued by the World Bank (WB), Mexico plummeted from position 54 to 60 among the 190 economies that were evaluated.

According to the report presented by the international organization, Mexico fell in two of the 10 sections evaluated: registration of properties (placed in number 105), which evaluates the procedure, time and cost to register a

property; and resolution of bankruptcy (position 33).

Our country maintained unchanged in the subject of access to electricity, (ranked 106th); obtaining credit, (ranked 11th); protection of minority investors, ranked 61st); cross-border trade, (ranked 69th), and compliance with contracts, in 43rd place.

In the meantime, Mexico actually improved its position in the “opening of businesses” category, ranking 107; “handling of construction permits”, ranking 93; and  “taxes payment”, in number 120.

Nationwide, the easiest cities to do business according to the report are: Aguascalientes, Tlalnepantla, Colima, Puebla, Culiacán, Celaya, Durango, San Luis Potosí, Guadalajara and Veracruz.

In contrast, the most difficult cities to open a company are: Oaxaca, Mexico City, Acapulco, Tijuana, La Paz, Ciudad Juarez, Zacatecas, Cancun, Cuernavaca, and Tlaxcala to a lesser extent.
