On Saturday November 9th, president Andrés Manuel López Obrador will arrive at Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo.
The president of Mexico will make a working tour of the Yucatan Peninsula this weekend, focused on villages in the rural areas, where the the Maya Train project will be developed.
According to the presidential agenda, on Friday, November 8, after the traditional morning press conference in Mexico City at the National Palace, the president will fly to Yucatán, where at 2:30 p.m. he will hold a dialogue with indigenous peoples in Tekax. At the event, organized by the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (Inpi), municipal authorities will inform the president of the great need for a hospital in the area.
On Saturday, November 9 at 10:30 am, AMLO will dialogue with indigenous peoples in Temozón, Yucatán, in what will be their fifth visit to that part of the state since he took office last year.
Also on Saturday, at 4 pm, he will arrive at Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, to meet with representatives of the Maya native peoples.
It is expected that beekeepers from the state will deliver a statement with the needs of the sector, collected during the meeting held last Tuesday with the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, Víctor Toledo Manzur, in the municipality of José María Morelos.
The President will spend the night in the peninsula to continue activities on Sunday, November 10, when he is scheduled to meet at 8:30 am with the indigenous peoples in Xpujil, municipality of Calakmul, in the state of Campeche.
Among the needs that will be exposed to the president, is the requirement to rehabilitate the federal highway from Dzibalchén to Xcanhá, as well as problems related to land tenure.
With these meetings with the representaties of the Maya indigenous peoples in the region, the federal government hopes to clarify doubts about emblematic projects that involve the area, such as the Maya Train, for which a consultation with those directly affected was announced.
